he doctorate is the third cycle of university studies leading to the academic grade of "doctor". It is accessible to holders of a Master's degree in two years (i.e., after initial training of at least 300 credits).

The doctoral examination consists of doctoral training (60 ECTS), the writing of an original research paper and its public presentation (the thesis defense).

The Faculty of Social Sciences is associated with the Department of Political Science of the Faculty of Law, Political Science and Criminology of ULiège in a single Doctoral College (jury) overseeing the doctoral course leading to the academic grade of Doctor in Political and Social Sciences. It is this jury that admits doctoral candidates and decides each year on the continuation of the doctoral program.
